Michigan Radio’s State of Opportunity reporter
A senior at Eastern Michigan University majoring in media studies and journalism, Paulette served as a Michigan Radio intern during her junior year and is now part of our news reporting team. Her internship was her first experience in broadcast journalism.
Paulette explains, “Before coming to Michigan Radio, I always wanted to go into television journalism. I never even considered radio as an option. But with all the experience I’ve gained since starting my internship last year, I think I’ve really found my fit in radio – something that still surprises me.”
As a digital journalist for Michigan Radio’s State of Opportunity project, Paulette produces web content that examines what can be done to break the cycle of poverty and improve opportunities for the most disadvantaged children. She says “I like being able to write about these issues to raise awareness. Maybe it can get important conversations started.”
Paulette credits everyone she works with at Michigan Radio for the success she has had at the station in the past year. “There is no one here that is not willing to help you. The people I work with make it easy for me to do my job – and to do it well,” Paulette said.
